New Deadly Delta Strain of COVID 19 likely to dominate the world

 


     The most contagious variant of covid is the Delta and also termed 1617.2 which was discovered in December 2020 in India. Now, this variant is responsible for most of the covid cases in the U.K and it is speculated that it will also dominate the United States.


    The new delta variant had reached almost 80 countries and caused travel restrictions in many of these countries. The contagious nature of this variant of covid has raised concerns about the efficacy of existing vaccines and the importance of analysis of delta variant is increased.
 


Delta strain of covid spread more rapidly.

    As mentioned above Delta variant had reached 80 countries and in the U.K cases of Delta variant surpassing the Alpha variant. However Alpha variant is also contagious but stats indicate that the Delta variant is 43-90 percent more contagious than Alpha. According to researchers Delta variant could spread 30 or 100 times faster as compared to Alpha. Scientists are unable to unveil such contagious nature of this new strain of covid 19. They believe the new mutations in proteins in virus enable it to enter the human cells more easily.

    The preliminary research indicates a new mutation had taken place by which once it attaches to a cell than it can smoothly diffuse to other cells of the body. The way it intact to cells as described then it can halt the immune system.


    The WHO’s chief scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan stated that it could be dominated form of covid in the world she further stated that Delta is 60 times more contagious than alpha.
According to the research report, persons below the age of 50 are more vulnerable and chances of their hospitalization increased.

    The doctors in china observe the health of patients infected with Delta strain deteriorates faster than Alpha.

    Zoe covid symptom study app reveals that symptoms of Delta are different than other strains of covid. The data of this app indicate the most common symptoms of Delta are sore throat, fever, headache, and snivel. Cough is not a common symptom of Delta and even loss of sense of smell is not included in the top 10 symptoms.

    Scientists have shown concerns that the symptoms of Delta and cold are identical to each other and there is the probability that people may consider the Delta infection as cold so the spread of the virus will be many folds. 


    It is speculated that the new strain has the resistance to the vaccines but the initial results of the research indicate that the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine is 79 percent and the two shots of AstraZeneca could decrease the hospitalization rate to 92 percent.

    Until now the death of any vaccinated person infected by the Delta strain of covid is not been reported.
